Strange Couplets

Posted in Fire, Fragments, Poems, Songs on July 1, 2010 by Insert-Silly-Name-Here.ai

People on fire are meaner than you think
they dash and they stumble and sink
A fire extinguisher might put them out
But then they sit around and pout

People on fire just need a match
Holes in your skin just need a patch
A patch on your skin to dull the pain
seed clouds with dust to make it rain

When I was on fire I saw only red
All I wanted was the ocean instead
Red becomes green and green becomes brown
Settle in mud, sink down and down

People on fire it’s all in their minds
wake up in your head it’s the heat that binds
Give in to the flames and they’re cool and light
Like soft summer linen on a warm summer night.

Factory Meat

Posted in Assholes, Breakfast, Death, Hell, Lies, Poems, Songs on April 29, 2010 by Insert-Silly-Name-Here.ai

Hey we’re hungry I’ll get something to eat
how about a slice of that factory meat
the factory meat looks dull and gray
the factory itself makes us all look away
let’s spice up the meat with some color and fat
hide the factory away wipe our hands that’s that

Hey we’re hungry I’ll get something to eat
how about a slice of that factory meat
the factory meat might make you sick
the factory walls are covered in shit
let’s sanitize the meat in an ammonia bath
consolidate factories make an industry pact

Hey we’re hungry I’ll get something to eat
how about a patty of that factory beef
the factory beef that once was a cow
the factory raising it once was a sow
they used to eat grass and they used to be good
until we made factory meat out of what should have been food.

Shooting Star (a waltz— or a lullaby in 6/8)

burning and hurtling down to the ground

the meteor falls through the sky

a firework bursts as the man comes in first

the heavens reflect in her eye

burning and hurtling down to the ground

I saw it approach from afar

what could it be is it really meant for me

the wish that I made on a star

burning and hurtling down to the ground

oh what a spectacular crash

I dream of a world made of nothing but snow

and ice that’s the color of ash

burning and hurtling down to the ground

I scream in delight as I fall

across millions of years of space I have fled

with my covers pulled up and my hands to my head

arriving just now in a glorious blaze

slicing through doubt and accustomed malaise

as I hurtle, unfurl to the end of all time

the loss of all history the death of all rhyme

implacable speed in an infernal shroud

I cry out once more as I burst through the cloud

rain becomes steam in the instant before

before I close the door.
